Boonie's Favorite Podcasts of 2017

I don't spend all of my time on The Boonie Breakdown podcast. I love to check out new podcast, since there are literally thousands out there!

I had already had this blog post scheduled before I received some great news on Christmas from Podcasts in Color. I want to thank all of you who submitted my podcast to make one of Podcasts in Color's #Top2017Podcast list. There are some great podcast on this list that I listen to and some that I can't wait to check it out!

Here are my favorite podcasts of 2017:

Black Girl in Om - Are you super curious about holistic self care and wellness, then this is the podcast for you. Host Lauren Ash and Deun Ivory have amazingly soothing voices and have put me on to some great things. I can't say that I am on a strict plant-based diet, but they have definitely planted seeds.

Death, Sex & Money - I love to hate this podcast sometimes! There was an episode called "Why I Steal" that infuriated me to no end! It was good storytelling, but my goodness it pissed me off! Anna tells great stories some that are relateable and others that you just can't believe!

Therapy for Black Girls - Breakups? Miscarriages? Holiday Blues? Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, a licensed Psychologist, delivers weekly strategies for mental health care and how to live your best life. Dr. Bradford sincerely cares about the mental wellness of black women. Not only is there a podcast, but she has an online directory to help you find a mental health professional in your area.

Baltimore: The Rise of Charm City - This podcast is a documentary series that tells the oral history of Baltimore. My favorite episode talked about the segregation of Baltimore's cemeteries and the stories behind them. If you love the city of Baltimore or just history, then you should definetely check out this one!

Making Oprah - If you have ever wanted to know how Oprah Winfrey became well Oprah, then this is the podcast for you! I enjoyed hearing the from the producers and staffers who worked on the show. There is even a bonus episode dedicated to solely to Oprah's hair. And yes Lady O is on the show too!

Mogul - The late great Reggie Ossé, known as Combat Jack, hosted this biographical podcast. This was storytelling at its finest. I didn't listen to the podcast immediately but man I am glad that I did. So much hip hop history in this podcast.

I could name so many more podcast to this list, but I want to hear from you. What were some of your favorite podcasts this year? Let me know in the comments, I love checking out new ones!

XoXo,

Boonie
