MOOD: MY MASK IS ON...AGAIN!

My current mood is angry as hell! How many more videos are we to watch of police killing our people?

Terrence Crutcher!

I wrote that opening for a post in July. Yet here we are again. Another man taking from his family because his blackness was viewed as a threat to four officers. It is a lot to process, when you live in a country that actively hates its own people. Gunning them down if their car breaks down or playing with a toy gun or wearing hoodie walking in their neighborhood or playing their music to loudly.

Compliance is a death sentence. Defiance is a death sentence. So what do you do? How do you save your own life?

I am at a lost. I really don't know how we beat this level of hate. The underbelly of racism in America is in full fledged vengeance mode. How do you defeat this? HOW?

Practice self care today family!

“We wear the mask that grins and lies,
It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,—
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties.

Why should the world be over-wise,
In counting all our tears and sighs?
Nay, let them only see us, while
We wear the mask.

We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries
To thee from tortured souls arise.
We sing, but oh the clay is vile
Beneath our feet, and long the mile;
But let the world dream otherwise,
We wear the mask!”
